Cucumber Infused Green Tea

Cucumber Infused Green Tea

Cucumber Infused Green Tea

By now you know the benefits of green tea.  If not, read this from Havard Medical School.  You probably also know all the cool things cucumbers can do.  If not, read this from natural news.  So why not put these two power houses together into a refreshing healthy drink.  It's so simply but so yummy.  It doesn't take long to make and you'll be able to reap the benefits for days.

Ingredients

1 Cucumber, cut lengthwise into quarters
5 green tea bags
6 cups of filtered water
Enough filtered water to top off the pitcher
1/4 cup organic maple syrup (use less over time.  I use about 2 Tbsp now)

Directions

Bring 5 cups of filtered water to a boil and then allow to cool for 5 minutes.  While the water is cooling add cucumber and maple syrup to the pitcher.

A neat little trick to make the bags easier to fish out after steeping is to thread them through slits in the lid if you happen to have this type of pitcher.  Otherwise use the cap to hold the strings in place by trapping them when closing the lid.

Pour the hot water into the pitcher, add the tea bags and enough filtered water to fill the pitcher all the way.  Put the lid on and leave the tea on the counter while it cools and steeps.  Once the tea is completely cooled, remove the tea bags and discard.  Use a long wooden spoon to stir and the put it in the fridge.  The cucumber flavor will continue to strengthen over time.

Serve over ice with a nice cucumber wedge or a squeeze of lemon juice.
