Every Berry in the Blender Fruit Smoothie

Every Berry in the Blender Fruit Smoothie

This is a different take on my usual morning smoothie (a green smoothie the recipe which will be provided in a later post.)  I like to use what's fresh, in season and available organically to make a morning smoothie.  I also choose what smoothie I'm making based on what's about to be too ripe.  Today, that happened to be a peach so this smoothie is blueberry, strawberry and peach mixed with the basics.  The basics include a handful of greens so you're actually sneaking a small salad in there and you'll never even know it once you give it a taste.  It's creamy, refreshing and a great way to start the day off right.  I enjoyed this while making my granola recipe so I wouldn't be starving when it came out of the oven.

Ingredients

1 organic fuji apple
1 organic peach
Several organic strawberries
1/2 cup organic blueberries
1 banana
A large handful of organic spring mix, mixed greens
The juice of one organic lemon
1/2 cup of 2% greek yogurt
A couple of Tbsp of water

Directions

Wash all your ingredients using a fruit and veggie wash (except, of course, the banana and the yogurt ;) .)
Cut the apple in half and place in the blender.

Do the same with the peach.  If you cut a peach along its seam it makes it easier to remove the pit, much like an avocado (with a little more juice so you may want to do this while holding it over the blender.)

Add the remaining ingredients in the order listed above.  You can add some ice to the blender if you'd like it a little cooler.

Start low and turn the blender up to high.  Let blend for 15-20 seconds and you're set. (If you're using a Vitamix you'll see what I mean)

Makes two servings.
